Regenerative Verified™ and Regeneratively Grown™ are science-based verification programs developed by Soil Regen to recognize agricultural products produced through measurable improvements in soil ecosystem function.

Unlike many regenerative programs that rely primarily on practice checklists, our verification process begins by measuring the outcome: soil regeneration. We utilize the Haney Soil Health Test, performed by Regen Ag Lab, to evaluate how management has influenced soil ecosystem function within the unique climate, soil type, and production system of each operation. The Haney Test is a scientifically developed and validated soil health assessment that integrates biological activity, carbon cycling, and nutrient availability to provide a comprehensive evaluation of soil function.

We believe regenerative agriculture is not defined by any single practice, but by the measurable regeneration of the soil ecosystem. Cover crops, livestock integration, reduced tillage, crop diversity, biological inputs, and nutrient management are all valuable tools, but their effectiveness depends on local conditions. Because every farm is different, our verification system focuses on measurable outcomes rather than rigid prescriptions, allowing producers to demonstrate regeneration within their own climate and management context.

By combining independent soil testing, third-party sampling, anonymized laboratory analysis, and management verification, Regenerative Verified™ provides a transparent, science-based process that producers, food companies, and consumers can trust.
Regenerative Verified™ and Regeneratively Grown™ utilize a two-step process that combines independent soil health measurement with verification of regenerative management practices. This approach ensures that both measurable outcomes and management principles are considered while maintaining scientific integrity and minimizing bias.

Step 1: Measure Soil Ecosystem Function
Fields are evaluated using the Haney Soil Health Test conducted by Regen Ag Lab, a certified soil health laboratory. The assessment measures biological activity, nutrient cycling, carbon dynamics, and other indicators of soil ecosystem function to determine whether soil health is being regenerated through management.
To ensure the integrity of the process, soil samples are collected by a qualified third-party agronomist, conservation professional, soil sampling company, or other approved independent sampler. Sampling locations are determined using soil type, slope, and elevation data to ensure representative field conditions are evaluated.
Before samples are submitted to the laboratory, grower names, field names, and identifying information are removed and replaced with anonymized identification numbers. The laboratory receives only the anonymized sample IDs and testing instructions, ensuring that laboratory personnel have no knowledge of the producer, farm, company, or operation being evaluated. This blind testing process eliminates potential bias and ensures that all samples are evaluated using the same scientific standards.
The verification system is also unique in that it evaluates soil ecosystem function within the context of each producer's own environment. By comparing surface and subsurface soil measurements, the process assesses how management has influenced soil health while minimizing the effects of geography, soil type, and climate. Rather than comparing one farm to another, the system evaluates regeneration within the producer's own context.

Step 2: Verify Regenerative Management
Once soil ecosystem regeneration is confirmed through laboratory analysis, producers verify the regenerative principles being utilized within their operation. Documentation may include planting records, seed invoices, grazing records, fertilizer records, aerial imagery, photographs, management plans, site visits, or other supporting evidence.
